The Inevitable Pseudo Intellectualization of The Pseudo Model Phenomenon Part II

Don't let this die.

I can really appreciate the humility of this chick girl.  She is the first to admit she is the one to blame for perhaps her sub-par performance, because as she puts it she doesn't have "enough ink" in her to answer those supposedly intellectually profound and challenging questions--my words not hers.  I mean how can you hate her?   Her meteoric rise to fame and fortune can be attributed to her good look and good management.  But I guess it's also because she is a girl of our time.  By that I mean she didn't come from any of the traditional establishment in Hong Kong, i.e. traditional TV beauty pageant.  People are already deeply critical and cynical of traditional TV if not downright sick and tired of it.  And Chau proves that those people are right.  TVB can no longer be the arbiter or purveyor of taste, or as a gatekeeper and hold you back to become successful though it may help when you have it on your side.  The public, read guys, don't need TVB to tell them which chick has the beauty and the brain to be named Miss Hong Kong, not anymore and not even relevant to a large part of the populace.  The most severe critics that I am aware of turn out to be from the good old fashioned venues, some chick from a beauty pageant and a woman whose dad is a billionaire casino mogul and an openly practicing polygamist.  Both suggest Chau, is pandering to sex and bad taste in general, and hence deserves absolutely no respect and worse is like committing the  biggest crime ever, which is mind-boggling considering both are in the same business though admittedly with less publicity and grassroots support than Chau.  Epic fail.  People tend to root for the underdog and the underdog is Chau.

  2. I didn't know that the HKUST really called to Chau showing their "apology" to Chau. I just jealous the Professor who have a hot chick sit so close in front of him. Chau should give her pillow or toothpaste to the professor as a token of thanks

  3. You are jealous all the time. Just get yourself her sleep pillow and get it over with.

She might have given him more than pillow and toothpaste already, wink wink ....

  6. Vincent, thank you. I was going to write a 50 page research paper with footnotes and bibliography but then I just couldn't. Instead I just had the above, a short post for my amusement and hopefully others'.

How long did it take u to write it?
Fyi or u know it alreay, Zang zi yi also got a lot of bad press in the hk papers. They have been so hostile to her. They complain about everything. Amongst others, her 'bad English'. She is from mainland China, and she is successful in Hollywood. People are just jealous. Chrissy is more or less the same. But I would add that her figure is even better than Zhang's. And above all, I somehow see her intelligence in that clip. Her EQ was great, and you mention it, she has humility. In fact, there is nothing to be ashamed about. What if someone (and that someone is a psudo intellectual) ask you a question in Swahili or Arabic? Yes, I am rooting for her and I think the 'Esquire' hk edition should add her name to "The Women We Love". How can you hate her?

  8. I think it took me about 15 minutes of so. I don't know. It takes me much much longer to write short story and movie review. I posted this pretty right away after I saw the video so I didn't really do the echo chamber kind of stuff, at least not this one.

The biggest crime those chicks ever committed was they are from China and they somehow overshadow the eclipse the Hong Kong local starlets, wannabes and hanger-ons and totally captivate the masses. Zhang's situation is a bit "worse" because she has the nerve to go out with a non-Chinese so that alone makes her a "traitor" of her country and hence despised even back in China.
