What would Amy Chua do? Would she approve what Uncle does?  Would she approve his message?
Notice the Asian fan in the background? Could that be from Amy? Did Uncle get his parenting skill from a Chinese mother and take it up a few notches? I won't discount that possibility. Video via Gawker.

Happy Birthday to You

My nth attempt to edit video.  The original video is 640x480 (69.8MB), I resized it to 480x360(11.1MB).  I don't know how big Blogger is going to embed it.  It seems like I have little control over the resolution once is embedded here.  I have to wait and see as it's uploading.  With my quad-core setup, the original rendering takes less than a minute.  I used to take a shower while the PC was rendering, it was that slow.

This is some lame video. Good thing it only lasts about 32 seconds. The music is from 易桀齊's 一整片天空 1st track- intro. Of course, my video doesn't do any justice to his music.

This is edited using Cinelerra. Again, the video doesn't do justice to the software, I think. The editing part is not that smooth. Dropping the title and moving it around isn't all that easy.

This is done by Kino. Unfortunately the interface and functionalities leave something to be desired. I was trying to mix a sound track, but alas, it wasn't doing it right. The video was slowing down even I didn't check the speed and the sound became garbled. And when I went back to edit mode, the speed of the whole project went up. So that was weird. I closed the entire project and re-opened and it at least then played normal. So forget about mixing a sound track and do the opening and closing credit, I just rendered the the dv to MPEG. I did the first run IN MPEG1, which gave me a smaller file 8MB but longer rendering. And this MPEG2 took shorter to render but got a much bigger file, 23MB. Enjoy.

Just whipped up this short video using Windows Movie Maker. The original was shot using a Canon G3. I can't suck the video out using Vista as there is no driver for my old G3. Ubuntu is my friend, so it sucked out the AVI video OKAY. But unfortunately kino can't edit the AVI. So I just have to move the AVI back to my VISTA notebook over my wifi by dancing some samba and did some quick and dirty video editing on my notebook. The Windows Media Maker wasn't all that bad for what I tried to do, until I tried to render or what Windows call publish the video. I just clicked publish and the notebook started thinking ... then I went to take a shower. When I was done showering like 10 minutes later, it was still thinking and then I noticed the title bar says not responding. Good thing I saved the project first before publishing. The second time I tried to publish, it went okay but the only format I can publish to was WMV. I was like where is my mpeg? Anyway, Google is okay with wmv. So wmv it is. Enjoy.

Harry Google Video from 2003

This is another Google video from my "library," as if I really have a library of video. The video was done sometime in 2003, some might have already seen it, some might not.
I hope this time around, things work just a bit better. The video is 1 min 17 sec, with some editing using Apple's iVideoiMovie, I don't even remember the exact name as my iBook is out of commission due to 'power failure' which can be attributed to a failure of the power adaptor. If you have an extra one please give it to me.
I just got my iPod Shuffle. After some struggling and juggling, I got my IBM Thinkpad to see the shuffle and now downloading songs to it. My IBM Thinkpad really s#&ks, can't put it any other way. The shuffle is a gift from Charles Schwab, considered my Christmas present.
