Thanksgiving 2013

Roasted garlic for mashed potato.
Rosemary and citric rub.  Actually only lemon zest the rosemary is from the backyard.

350F for 2.5 hours.  Temperate reaches 165F in both thigh and breast.  Not bad.

Time to eat.

Fancy cake.

Thanksgiving Dishes

This year, I broke the tradition.  I used a chicken instead.

To be cooked and mashed potatoes.  If your mashed potato doesn't taste good, add more butter.  That's the best tip I can give you.
Garlic to be roasted for the mashed potato
Lobsters
Beet (and Goat's Cheese Salad)

That's it.  Enough over-sharing.  For now.

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is just a few hours away. I prepped my almost 13 pounds turkey already. Hopefully everything will be an OK tomorrow.

Thanks to everyone. Thank you thank you thank you.

UPDATES

The dinner; pictures usually look better with me behind the camera, but not this time. Oh, well. The big bird turned out good but Jin kept saying she liked last year's better. I guess she likes the citrus seasoning better. Maybe next year I will combine the citrus seasoning and the butter.

The Demented Cook. The turkey is close to 13 pounds, I threw the label away and I forgot. I put the sage butter underneath the skin, see the lumps underneath the skin? Those are butter pucks.

Preparing for the sage butter. Chopped up the sage. I happen to have some sage growing in the kitchen so I plucked some and chopped them up. I left two bars of butter at room temperature and let them soften. Mix sage with butter, make a butter sausage and put into refrigerator to harden. See the chef knife on top? You don't mess with me with that knife in hand.

Stuffing baked separately. This one is surprisingly good. The very first time I made any stuffing. I like the sweetness, it's not heavy, just right. The recipe is in foodtv.com and I recapped it in the comment section.

Happy Thanksgiving

I don't know, if I am the pilgrim or the Indian here but I am serving the turkey. This is turkey prior to 2 hours of 425F high heat.

Thanksgiving is about pilgrims, the Mayflower, Indians, turkey and Christopher Columbus who mistook North American Natives as Indians from East Indies.

My Thanksgiving is about eating, family and friends, counting my own blessings and hopefully some shoppings.

UPDATE:

I am like preparing the Thanksgiving dinner now...

Thanksgiving is right around the corner

...Thanksgiving is all about turkey and gaining a few pounds and trying in vain to lose them afterwards.
Wait, it's also about the day after Thanksgiving, black Friday, the day we are supposed to start our Holiday shopping.

Barber Shop in Chinatown

Nowadays I loathe to have my haircut, that's why I seldom have mine cut, maybe once or twice a year. I went back to Chinatown. I could ...
