At work, I drink my coffee using a Made in China coffee mug. I don't clean my mug obsessively, sometimes I just rinse it and sometimes I leave my mug unwashed overnight. I think whatever residue there just adds another layer of flavor or many layers actually to whatever freshly brewed.
That's how I drink my coffee at work. Pretty disgusting, eh?

Absolutely not. I do the same all the time. IMHO, that's how most men treat their coffee mugs.

ReplyDeleteyou're just leaving in the essence of whatever you're drinking. kind of like the "lo sui" stuff they use to marinade random animal parts with in chinese restaurants. i can't imagine they change that stuff too often. correct me if i'm wrong.

ReplyDeleteYou know, I really have no clue how they do the lo sui kind of stuff. Like many Chinese recipes and standard or not so standard operating procedures in restaurants, Chinese or otherwise, it's a mystery and you don't really want to find out anyway.
You know, if someone writes the Chinese equivalent of Anthony Bourdain's Kitchen Confidential it'd sure be another runaway success.

ReplyDeleteYou're better not reading it then, as it details precisely the kind of little-known short-cuts that chefs do on a daily basis to get food out on the table. I just always try to remember what days of the week to NOT order seafood at a restaurant.
