I don't know how we could make something any more sensual, or simpler than the new MacBook. The new aluminum uni-body MacBook is sensual. This is just the kind of notebook I need even we are in this financial clusterfuck, no matter, we need this, just in time for this holiday shopping season. The redesigned notebook starts at $1,299, and the old design, without the sensual uni-body fetches $999 just below the $1,000 price point. The Dow retreated today after gaining more than 900 points yesterday. Apple stock shedded $4 after the new laptop introduction. Jobs' blood pressure is at 110/70 ... I guess we could all lose some weight, just like Jobs.

who needs rip off from Apple. Note book computer can be as cheap as RMB1999 now in China.
ReplyDeleteHa ha. Apparently, plenty of people. It has some cool design and you pay a premium for that....
ReplyDeleteI think over here, the cheaper notebook can be have for about $600 but definitely not as sleek as those from Apple. Oh well. I have a G3 iBook not working though, I liked it but it crapped out on me, so much so for total control of the platform. My IBM Thinkpad is still rocking. I like their iMovie software I think it was easy to use.
boring, do you have any exciting hobbies except Linux, flowers, BBQ, Mac, 120 or others, I protest in here again, read the writings in the wall of my Facebook, you can find something more interesting
ReplyDeleteHasee 神州 laptops immediately came to mind. There are lots of other choices as well, including some equipped with the China-designed Loongson 龙芯 processors and operating systems like Future Alpha etc.
ReplyDeleteSome of these are subnotebooks that are meant for primary school kids in rural China - something like the XO laptop in the One Laptop per Child programme.
Forget about the loongson, you don't have software support even in the linux world. You have to be able to modify the source code and compile it yourself.
ReplyDeleteI don't think we need to care what a tools is meant for. The only concern is is it suitable for the job at hand.
Enter the Sidney....welcome back, Professor Black
ReplyDeleteI have no idea what Hasee or Loongson are, I could only surmise they are China made and branded Linux OS. In my mind the most popular Linux distributions are Red Hat and Ubuntu ... But I could be wrong as it's just my impression.
ReplyDeleteghorse, you are definitely speaking from an engineering perspective, get the job done by using the right tools. In my working environments, there are no way on earth we can switch to any other OS except Windows because all the financial apps are in Windows. For my personal use, it's just a matter of preference or indifference. The browser is really the interface by and large.
Hasee is a laptop manufacture and they are just about 1 to 2 km away from my office in Shenzhen. Loongson should be the pride of Chinese people as it is the first CPU designed by Chinese engineers. Manufacturer of that chip is ST a french-italian company I suppose.
ReplyDeleteWell for business there is really no choice but windows. I means for personal use especially just serving the web, email and IM anything cheap will do and it did save you some $$.
I have been hoping to get my own notebook for a few years, but as $$ is considered, I just stick with the notebook provided by the company.
After I posted my previous comment, I did a Google search on the two keywords. I am surprised to find it as a chip maker or like you said chip designed by Chinese. Intel or AMD or even the US government probably would look into this to make sure there is no espionage involved ... ha ha.
ReplyDeleteApple somehow elevates computing as a lifestyle experience and hence the sensual adjective so there you pay a premium for getting a sensual computer.
