Oh brother. It's really called iPad, of all names that Apple can infringe and use. It's a tribute to female hygiene I guess. iPad available with or without wings, okay only without wings.

youtube has a madtv segment that eerily predicted the iPad from Apple many years ago.
ReplyDeleteNothing really exciting. Old ideas, closed system that lock you to their shop. Only idiots would rush for this. Same feeling I got with iphone.
ReplyDeleteYes was way underwhelmed when this came out. And oh the name! Were there not even one female employee at Apples who could have stated the obvious connotations to Jobs? It was just plain weird listening to all these male geeks on the promo video extolling the virtues of the iPad.
ReplyDeleteghorse: apparently Wall Street agrees with you. I am glad I didn't sell my underwear to buy the stock. It just lost more than 4 dollars. But you never know. Regarding the iPhone, I think it really doesn't matter whether it's closed or open. It has a legion of developers to develop for the (closed) platform which is unprecedented in numbers. It does provide very nice user experience.
ReplyDeleteThe iPad is a tougher sell. What can it do a cellphone and a notebook can't or can't do as good as an iPad? I won't bet against Jobs at this point. The desperate print media may just save the iPad, or the other way round?
Snowdrops: haw haw, seriously I don't think there are any women in the marketing team. Even there are, they just don't have the guts to speak up against Jobs. Nobody has. When you are so immersed in something you got blindsided. When I was a kid, I found the word "lawyer" funny because it sounded like "ass" in Cantonese at least to my dirty little ear. But I got older the word just lost that connotation.
