Roger Federer cruised through the first round with a straight 3-set win over Gonzalez. Federer's personal assistant, some woman called Anna Wintour, big shades and all, was seated behind Federer's girlfriend Mirka Vavrinec.
Federer's hair seems longer than usual, mainly the back.
R Fed was obviously pleased with his first round performance. No problem signing a thousand tennis balls after the match and gave some ear to ear smiles during the post game interview.
I hope there is a big rematch between Federer and Nadal in this US Open.

I watched the Olympic semifinal between Nadal and the Serb guy (Djogovic or whatever). Well, I have to admit I haven't watched tennis for a long time and that match was great. The way they hit the ball was just unbelievable, and that Serb guy had every right to beat Nada. After the game, I could see tears in the loser's face. Too bad TV Jade cut to commercials right away. For my part, my interest in tennis has been rekindled. I am going to play tennis next week.

The Serbs are a rising force in the tennis arena, the number one woman Ana Ivanovic and the number 2 Jelena Jankovic are both Serbs.
Novak Djokovic is seeded number 3 in the US Open. The guy can hit some ball and can do some wild impersonation of other players.
US tennis is really going downhill after Sampras and Agassi. Nadal and Federer totally raised the game to a different level. Look at Nadal's biceps, bigger than most's people's thighs. That tells you something. James Blake covered in arms, rather wisely, during Wimbledon....
