Nikon Rumor got everything right, it seems more like the marketing department for Nikon than a rumor mongering site. Either way, I don't and can't have a problem with that.
The D3100 is marketed as a family camera, especially for young families who don't know crap about photography. That kind of puts me off a bit even I am not young anymore. The specs look impressive and the price point is right. I expect it to sell millions.

Get a 28mm fixed focal length and be done with it. I found wide angle more useful than tele most of the time.
