Today marks the 20th anniversary of the bloody crackdown on the student pro-democracy movement in Tiananman Square 1n 1989. This song though not tailor made for this year's commemoration but is eerily apt and the music video just made it obviously so.
So here it is, the anthem for the 20th anniversary of the student pro-democracy movement.

They also played that song that night. Like many people in the park, I didn't have a candle in my hand. That was a why lot of people were not counted by the police, who always tried to 'undercount' anyway. What a shame!

Was it your first? So you went to the candle light vigil forgetting to bring your own candle? Despite the nature of the commemoration, I guess they can make a concert out of it every year. Oh well, but the "celebritards" won't be participating anyway. Wait, who needs them anyway.
ReplyDeleteBuddy, you don't need to bring your own. It was given free of charge. Because I was out of work, I came by early. Out of appreciation, some volunteers were handing out white roses. I thought I had no need for it because it was way too early and I went to the library nearby first. By seven o'clock, after having read the latest issues of the People and Vanity Fair, I came out of the library and found the whole place full of people. For dinner, I had to go to a MacDoanld way down in the Queen's Road East. For the rest of the night, I sat on the ground. There were lots of young people. On the eve of June 4 and on June 4, I always like to take a private moment to think over it. And I am never the slogan type. In the past 20 years, I thought I showed up 5 times. Because I was mostly wearing a suit then, I never sat on the ground, and you know how hot it could get in HK. On another note, I could access your blog now after June 4. Your blog is mostly about good food/horticulture, nothing more counterrevolutionary, why the commies in this part of the world are trying to shut it down?

Yeah, I was just saying, they should have given out the candles and they did. I didn't know blogger was blocked even in HK. I don't think mine is singled out gotta be a wholesale kind of blocking I think. Anyway not a big deal to me. You couldn't even access it from HK? I thought only from mainland.
