I was having dinner with my friends that night. Then we went home. All night long, I was listening to the radio until I felt asleep. The next day at 1 a.m. on TVB Jade, the anchorwoman, Miss Lu Jia Min was in tears. You might argue she was not professional enough. But that moment...well, I will never forget those moments...

  3. I don't remember where I was on June 4, 1989. I did remember seeing posters and reportage on campus around that time. I think Chinese students born in China were granted political asylum because of June 4. I either didn't have TV back then or had any limited access to TV. The web was pretty much non existent for most people (The internet did exist but not world wide web or html until later I think)

  4. in 4 Jun 1989 Sunday morning, I back to City Poly Mongkok Temporary Campus to revise for the exam, then met Sid. We lunch together and at around 6pm, some students persuaded us went home immeidately, there was rumour that riots happened in Central, of course later we knew that it was rumour. Then my sisters copies hundreds of Wei Hui Po and sent to different unknown receipts in Mainland, just like what see sent junk mail on internet. I don't know whether what the outcome was, those were the days

  5. There's some debate in HK lately over the use of the word "Tu Cheng" or 屠城 to describe what happened on that fateful day in Beijing.

DAB [i.e. Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong] Ma Lik was of the view that although some students and workers get killed [23 according to Yuan Mu who killed himself much later] in Beijing, it's just over the top to describe what actually happened there as Tu Cheng.

  6. Yes, it's called massacre by some account. The term of course is loaded, judgmental and now contentious. But I don't think it's inappropriate though.

  7. To give you some updated, I heard from RTHK, according to defintion of UN, intentionally murdered FIVE or more unarmed civilians will be defined as "masscare". I don't know whether it's correct or not, Prof. Sweet or Prof. Black will check it out.
