Match Point, 2005

A Woody Allen movie not being marketed as one. But then again, anyone who reads film review kind of things know it's an Allen movie. Is it reverse marketing?

If you are sick and tired of seeing typical Allen's neurotic stuttering on screen performance, no worry, you won't see it in this flick. He is, to many's relief, totally behind the scene.

Apparently things look pretty good with him behind the camera.

Match Point is about lust and luck. It is a tragedy well told.

Vince, if you have some time to spare, like when you are not studying World History or Arabic, or Persian or making millions on the side, you may perhaps want to check it out. I won't say you are gonna like it but there is a good chance that you won't find it boring, if anything, Scarlett Johansson, should get your attention.

As I told you guys before, the dvd has a hkd 240 price tag on it. I am waiting to see it on tv. It is not something I can't wait. Anyway, I know what the movie is all about: In life it is better lucky than smart!

  2. HKD240, that's steep. Over here it's around $17.99 or $19.99. I borrowed it from the library, now the NSA probably knows my film viewing habbit but that's another story.

I saw the movie, in part, because you mentioned about it.

Allen just came out another new movie, again starring Johansson. It's called Scoop.

I didn't know one can borrow movies from the library. That's cool, man. I'll have to find out whether HK's library ... I've just checked and concluded there's no such service in HK yet. The US is an advanced country in many ways. I'd like to watch Match Point on DVD and I can wait.

What kind of a library is that? Do they have pb or penthouse? That is William's reading habit, as far as I know. He went all the way from hk to ny just to meet you there. They must have some good stuff on their shelves.

  9. I believe all the new york public libraries have movies in DVD and VHS formats. Also music recordings in CD format. All you need is a library card (or two, 'cos the libraries in Queens and Manhattan aren't integrated yet) Library cards are free. The movie/book collections also reflect the geograhical location of the library. In Flushing, there are plenty of Chinese/Korean/Indian titles.

Playboy and Penthouse aren't stocked. However they can easily be found in all the newstands everywhere.

wp2006 didn't come to visit me per se. His whole purpose was to have a sojourn in Canada w/ his ex-DH and to get away from his domestic life in Hong Kong. truth be told, I am just an aside.
