Slackware ....

Just for you Sid. I am still struggling with the install. Probably my BIOS is not up to date. Or something.
I tried Debian as well. Still no go.
My floppy is 'broken' as I was trying to flash my BIOS.

If you can't install it, who else can? What is "flashing" my BIOS? I know BIOS, but not flashing my BIOS.

  3. Now, I am truly embarrassed.
I guess once you got the system installed the rest is not too bad. To flash the BIOS is to upgrade the BIOS...
The Linux source CDs were burned by me, I don't know if it's in part of the media. Or in part because of the CD-ROM drive or in part because of some old BIOS that the Linux kernel can't work well with.

  4. Wireless connection using Windows is not too bad. Although I did find it from time to time, I can't get a connection from my IBM notebook.
I have a real cheap PCI card for my Desktop, that works very consistent. Also my Apple iBook, the connection is consistent.
Sometimes the IBM connection would just unable to connect.
The Windows wifi configuration is not too bad, unless the manufacturer really gives out some stinky utility.

Civil War (2024)

This is basically a Dorothy yellow brick road kind of story.  Also, something to do with the new replaces the old, the circle of life thing....
