I've never owned or used this lens before. Instead I have the AF-D version. The AF-S is supposed to be faster. Nikon discontinued this lens and replaced it with the AF-S 70-200 f/2.8. I have the first version a friend of mine gave me.
If you have extra cash but not extra enough to buy the AF-S 70-200 f/2.8 then perhaps this AF-S 80-200 f/2.8 is not a bad choice at all. If I ever break the AF-S 70-200 f/2.8 then I won't be able to replace it.
Auto focus of AF-D lenses won't work on the Z cameras with the FTZ adapter. More reason to get the AF-S instead of the AF-D 80-200 f/2.8 lens.
